Mary’s road traffic accident claims settled for €150,000
2 minute read
Mary was driving home on a main road in County Kildare after a long day at work. It was a cold winter day and the roads were icy. Unfortunately, the driver of an oncoming car skidded on ice, causing a head on collision with Mary.
As a result of this accident, Mary suffered a range of injuries, the most severe being a displaced fracture to her wrist that required surgical intervention. Additional injuries included soft tissue damage to her nose, as well as hip and knee pain. These injuries left Mary with permanent and residual difficulties restricting her ability to work.
Seeking expert legal advice
Mary reached out to Damien Conroy directly, having been referred due to Augustus Cullen Law’s esteemed reputation in handling personal injury claims. During her initial meeting, Damien explained the legal processes involved and promptly initiated a claim on her behalf.
Legal proceedings and expert consultations
The claim was initially admitted to the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB). However, due to the complex nature of her injuries, the case was eventually released from PIAB, and we proceeded to issue a High Court Personal Injuries summons.
To substantiate our client’s claim, we gathered several expert reports. These included assessments from orthopaedic surgeons, occupational and vocational assessors, and actuarial consultants. We also enlisted the services of highly competent junior and senior counsel barristers to strengthen our legal strategy.
Mary’s case settled for €150,000
As the case was nearing its court date, we managed to secure a settlement that was highly favourable to our client. The matter was settled for €150,000, in addition to legal costs, sparing our client the emotional burden of a court trial.
