Dorothy required an operation to reduce the size of her breasts which were beginning to cause her back pain. After a significant period of reducing her body mass index (BMI), she was deemed eligible to undergo the necessary surgery to reduce her breast size.
Following the surgery, it was discovered that the locum plastic surgeon had removed too much breast tissue and incorrectly placed the nipple complex on the breasts resulting in a very poor cosmetic outcome.
Dorothy was left with the requirement for further surgery if she wishes to try and correct the poor outcome she suffered. This additional surgery will be extremely complex and with a much lower chance of success.
Consequently, Dorothy contacted us and had the benefit of an initial consultation with Jamie Hart. She instructed our firm with her case.
Jamie engaged a highly respected plastic surgeon in the UK who carried out a full assessment of our new client and her records.
The medical report provided by the expert severely criticised the surgical technique employed by the defendant surgeon. He also offered a view on the possible surgical options to correct the outcome available to the plaintiff in England and how much these would cost.
Thankfully, the defendant showed a willingness to settle at an early stage. The matter was settled in the sum of €150,000, plus costs such as legal fees. This was a relief to Dorothy who was spared a lengthy case that could have otherwise progressed to a hearing.
